We
at the Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel care deeply about
the community and it shows through our volunteerism
and sponsorships. In 2007, the Sheraton Portland Airport
Hotel's "Fabric of the Community" program sponsored
the Northwest Down Syndrome Association's "Buddy Walk."
We also sponsored a luncheon to kick off the new school
year for the Park Rose Middle School teachers to show
our appreciation for our local teachers. Read about
more community activities.
Supporting
the community is a year-round activity at the Sheraton
Portland Airport Hotel. In March, we hosted a "send-off"
banquet for our local Miss Oregon USA who was on her
way to the nationally televised Miss USA Pageant with
all donations and proceeds going to NWDSA and the Sparrow
Club. Our sales team also supports the Make a Wish Foundation,
the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Walk and Juvenile Diabetes
Foundation.
Throughout
the year, we have collected monies for the Special Olympics
Foundation and have also shown our commitment to local
charities by donating more than 100 room stays and restaurant
free meals this year. We also showed our support for
the planet by sponsoring the 2007 Miss Earth United
States Pageant.
In
the coming years, we want to do even more for the community.
We plan to sponsor the 2008 Miss Earth United States
Pageant and are working towards our goal to have Portland
as the venue for the 2009 Miss Earth International Pageant.
This pageant would bring in delegates from more than
110 nations and show off our beautiful city to worldwide
audience of 2 billion viewers. In 2008, we also hope
to work with more closely with Guide Dogs for the Blind.
