Downtown Clean & Safe

The Portland Business Alliance manages one of the largest and oldest Business Improvement Districts in the nation. The Alliance's Central City work underscores the importance that a vibrant Central City plays in the overall economic well-being of the region.

The Alliance is involved in a broad range of activities that keep the Central City one of the best places to live, work, shop and play:

• Clean & Safe services - The Alliance manages street cleaning, security, restorative justice programs like Community Court and other programs dealing with urban livability issues.
• Downtown market research - Our downtown market research provides a resource for existing downtown businesses and helps promote the Central City to businesses seeking to relocate.
• Downtown retail and marketing - We partner with the Downtown Marketing Initiative to develop seasonal and retail promotions.
• Sidewalk Ambassadors - The green-clad Ambassadors provide a common sight on the streets of the Central City. They provide a wealth of information about the attractions and history of the Central City.
