Participating in an Alliance committee makes your Alliance membership work for you. Most committees are self-nominated. Committee involvement is open to any employee of our member businesses.

Central City Standing Committee: Provides leadership in maintaining the appearance, safety and function of the Central City to keep it clean, safe and attractive. For additional information, please click here.

Cornerstones for Success Committee: Plans and develops topics for the Cornerstones event to help small to mid-size businesses grow. For additional information, please click here.
Development Committee: Develops and reviews initiatives, programs and policies related to public spaces, land use, development and housing issues unique to the Central City. For additional information, please click here.
Downtown Marketing Committee: Helps develop and execute the City of Portland's downtown marketing plan and partners with other organizations on region-wide marketing initiatives. Advises the Alliance on member and community communication strategies. For additional information, please click here.
Downtown Retail Council: Conducts cooperative retail promotions. Oversees implementation of the Downtown Retail Strategy and represents the collective interests of downtown retailers to elected governmental bodies. Operates the downtown Business Improvement District. Members must be restaurateurs, hoteliers or retailers inside the downtown Business Improvement District. Downtown Retail Strategy Task Force: Reviews the recommendations and associated action items from the 2002 Downtown Retail Strategy to determine a future course of action for promoting and protecting the downtown Retail Core. For additional information, please click here.
Education Committee: Develops and reviews public policy proposals related to educational issues for K-12 as well as undergraduate studies, graduate and post-graduate offerings. For additional information, please click here.
Golf Scramble Task Force: Plans and executes annual golf scramble held in September. Active April through September. For additional information, please click here.
Government Relations Standing Committee: Makes public policy recommendations to the Alliance Board of Directors, oversees the Transportation & Land Use and Education committees and the Pacific Northwest International Trade Association Council. For additional information, please click here.
Leadership Portland Committee: Interviews and selects class participants, reviews program curriculum and requirements, creates project guidelines and presents qualified candidates for graduation. For additional information, please click here.
Membership Committee: Promotes Alliance membership by developing and promoting programs that meet members' business needs and assists new and current members so they receive maximum value from their membership. For additional information, please click here.
Pacific Northwest International Trade Association (PNITA): Advocates and educates on issues to enhance international trade and remove barriers to global competition. For additional information, please click here.
PNITA Trade Policy Committee: Works to advance PNITA's trade interests in federal trade policy negotiations and track regulatory developments that affect the competitiveness of Northwest businesses. For additional information, please click here.
PNITA Tax & Fiscal Policy: Identifies federal tax impediments that hinder regional businesses to compete effectively in the global marketplace, and works directly with congressional leaders and senior tax committee staff on draft legislation. For additional information, please click here.
President's Council: Council members act as membership mentors to new members and assist in member retention. Council oversees and solicits sponsors for many of the Alliance's member programs and events. For additional information, please click here.

Small Business Council: Works on implementation of the Small Business Prosperity Strategy developed by the Alliance, city, neighborhood and business organizations. Focus is on improving small-business representation on regional boards and commissions and accessibility of local business-development information and resources.
