Pacific Northwest International Trade Association

Mission
Pacific Northwest International Trade Association (PNITA) promotes non-partisan support for international trade, works to develop policies that reflect the interests and consensus of its members who are dedicated to supporting global competitiveness under a fair and equitable trading system.

History and Purpose
Founded in 1982, PNITA is a private, nonprofit trade association committed to promoting international trade throughout the Pacific Northwest region. In 2002, PNITA merged with the Portland Business Alliance to create a strong voice for business in the region, state, nation and beyond. Today, PNITA represents leading corporations and small businesses in Oregon and Washington state who are exporters and importers in the fields of agriculture, manufacturing, and the service sectors.

Throughout its history, PNITA has supported an open trading system including the enforcement of US trade laws that protect against predatory dumping and aggressive export subsidies employed by some of our trading partners. PNITA has also worked closely with elected state and federal representatives to advocate for our members on trade interests of regional significance. These efforts include pursuing sound international tax policies, investing in the region's transportation network, and promoting greater awareness and understanding of how trade benefits the economy and the community.

Trade Missions
In order to strengthen the region's trade relationships, PNITA and the Alliance organize trade missions to strategic trade partner countries. In 2009, a delegation went to China and the latest was a mission to Germany this last spring. For information about past or future missions, read more on the trade missions blog.
