2010 Check-up on the Portland-Region's Economic Health
The report, compiled by ECONorthwest for the Portland Business Alliance, Associated Oregon Industries, Oregon Business Association, Oregon Business Council and Port of Portland is a comprehensive examination of the region’s economic performance over the past 40 years. The objectives of the report are to identify key differences between the Portland, Seattle, Denver and Minneapolis metro economies; examine why the Portland-metro economy under-performs relative to these peers; and begin a conversation with public and private leaders to define strategies to restore public service funding and spur economic growth. 2010 Interanational Trade Study
The report, compiled by The Trade Partnership for the Portland Business Alliance, Associated Oregon Industries, Oregon Business Association, Oregon Business Council, Port of Portland and the Pacific Northwest International Trade Association examines how international trade impacts job creation and the economy of Oregon and the Portland-metro area.* As the study makes clear, international trade is a significant net generator of jobs and income for Oregon workers. It is one of the few areas of the economy that, despite the recession, is growing. This report confirms the findings of a 2010 national analysis conducted by the Brookings Institution, which found that Portland was one of the top twenty U.S. metropolitan areas in exporting strength. Transportation Studies
An efficient transportation system is critical to business health, especially in a trade dependent region like Portland. Businesses need the ability to move its people and products quickly. To better understand the connection between business and transportation, the Alliance worked with a number of partners to develop a series of studies that identify the costs related to congestion and other delays in the region's transportation system.
Use of Freight and Business Impact Criteria for Evaluating Transportation Projects
The Use of Freight and Business Impact Criteria for Evaluating Transportation Projects report seeks to address the need to apply new methods in order to differentiate transportation projects that are particularly critical for business and economic growth, by asking: (a) why it makes sense to give weight to freight movement and critical business routes in the evaluation and prioritization of transportation investments, and (b) how a methodology and process can be implemented to appropriately take consideration of critical freight and business activities in the decision-making process. The Alliance partnered with the Port of Portland on this study.

The Cost of Highway Limitations and Traffic Delay to Oregon's Economy
The state's economy is transportation-dependent. Despite Oregon's excellent rail, marine,
highway and air connections to national and international destinations, projected growth cannot be accommodated on the current system. Increasing congestion and travel time delay - even with currently planned improvements - will significantly impact the state's ability to maintain and grow business, as well as our quality of life. The Alliance partnered with Oregon Business Council, Associated Oregon Industries, Port of Portland, Oregon Department of Transportation and the Westside Economic Alliance.
